What an MT4 VPS from WebJi includes
An MT4 VPS is a Windows Server with the terminal installed on it, reached over Remote Desktop from any laptop or phone. The server holds the session, so the trading platform does not depend on your PC staying awake.
- Windows Server — the image MT4 expects, with Administrator rights to install broker builds and DLLs.
- Dedicated vCPU and RAM — assigned to your server, not shared on demand.
- NVMe storage — fast terminal start, backtests and log writes.
- Static IPv4 — one address that survives reboots, with rDNS available for broker verification.
- 24/7 email support — Hindi and English, average first reply under 60 minutes.
This is the MetaTrader-specific build; the trading VPS in India page covers the wider category if you also run cTrader, TradingView alerts or broker APIs.
Why MT4 runs on Windows and not Linux
MetaTrader 4 is a 32-bit Windows application, so the terminal belongs on Windows Server. Linux runs it only through Wine, and many EAs, broker DLLs and custom indicators fail there — the terminal starts, then the strategy does not.
MT5 is 64-bit and also Windows-first. If your EA loads a DLL, match its bitness to the terminal your broker ships, and test the pair on a demo account before it touches a live one.
Low-latency placement: choose the VPS nearest your broker
Latency is the distance between your terminal and the broker's trade server, not between you and the VPS. Placing the server near the broker removes the long hop; a faster CPU cannot.
Open the MT4 login dialog and read the server name, something like Broker-Live01. Ask the broker where that server is hosted, then request placement on the same network region. From the VPS, ping the trade server and watch jitter as well as the average figure, because a steady 20 ms beats a 5 ms average that spikes to 80.
Not every broker publishes its data centre. When it does not, run two candidate regions on demo for a week and keep the one with the lower jitter. WebJi's facilities are listed on the data centre page.
Static IP, broker login and RDP security on an MT4 VPS
A static IPv4 matters twice: some brokers whitelist the address for algo or API access, and an rDNS record helps with verification. WebJi assigns one address per server, and it does not change on reboot or renewal.
- RDP — long unique password, a non-default port, and firewall rules limited to your own IP range where possible.
- Terminal — one account per terminal, and never the investor password on a shared box.
- Broker — register the VPS IP with the broker before you enable API or algo access.
- Access — remove RDP users who no longer trade; an old login is the commonest way a trading server is lost.
Uptime: keeping the MT4 terminal alive on a VPS
The terminal keeps running when RDP disconnects, so closing the laptop does not stop an EA. What stops it is a reboot, a Windows update, or a terminal that was never set to start with the server.
Set Windows Update to install outside market hours, put the terminal in the startup folder with AutoTrading enabled, and check the connection status in its status bar each morning. WebJi publishes a 99.9% uptime target, and the public status page carries the cluster history.
How much RAM one MT4 terminal needs
One terminal with two or three charts runs comfortably on 4 GB, two to three terminals need 8 GB, and a portfolio with frequent backtests wants 16 GB. Chart count and history depth matter more than the number of EAs.
| Setup | vCPU / RAM | Storage | What fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single terminal | 2 vCPU / 4 GB | 60 GB NVMe | One EA, two or three charts, daily timeframe |
| Two or three terminals | 4 vCPU / 8 GB | 120 GB NVMe | MT4 plus MT5, several pairs, tick charts |
| EA portfolio | 8 vCPU / 16 GB | 240 GB NVMe | Multiple strategies, backtests, long history |
Sizing guidance rather than a fixed plan grid; the quote confirms the final spec for your broker and terminal count.
MT4 and MT5 can share one Windows VPS. Two terminals at 2 GB each still leave room inside an 8 GB server, and they can auto-start together on boot.
What an MT4 VPS costs in India
WebJi quotes each trading VPS in INR before payment, with 18% GST on the invoice. The price covers the Windows server, the static IP and support. The MT4 or MT5 terminal itself is a free download from your broker, and WebJi charges no platform licence fee.
Windows licensing sits inside the same quote rather than arriving as a later add-on. A Windows VPS without trading placement costs less if you only need the desktop.
How to set up MT4 on a VPS
- Email support@webji.services with the broker, trade server name, terminal count, EAs and the region you want.
- The desk confirms placement, RAM and CPU, the Windows version and the INR figure including GST.
- Connect over RDP with the credentials issued for the server.
- Download MT4 from your broker's own site, then log in with the account number, password and server name.
- Enable AutoTrading, attach the EA, run it on demo for a session, then add the terminal to startup.
Moving an existing setup? Copy the terminal data folder — experts, profiles and configs — and the desk can handle the migration free, subject to terms and approval. Reach the team through the contact page or support@webji.services.

MT4 VPS hosting: frequently asked questions
Which VPS is best for MT4 in India?
One placed on the network closest to your broker's trade server, on Windows Server, with a static IPv4 and enough RAM for your terminal count. Measure ping and jitter from the VPS to the broker before you commit.
How much RAM do I need for MT4 on a VPS?
About 4 GB for one terminal with two or three charts, 8 GB for two or three terminals, and 16 GB for an EA portfolio with backtests. Chart count and history depth drive memory more than the number of robots.
Can I run EAs 24/7 on a VPS?
Yes. Set the terminal to start with Windows, enable AutoTrading, and schedule updates outside market hours. The EA keeps running after RDP disconnects, which is the point of hosting it on a server.
Do I need a Windows VPS for MT4 or can Linux work?
MT4 is a 32-bit Windows application, so Windows Server is the supported route. Linux runs it only through Wine, where broker DLLs and many EAs fail, which is a risk no live account should carry.
How do I connect to my MT4 VPS from my phone?
Install Microsoft Remote Desktop on Android or iOS, add the server IP and your credentials, and the Windows desktop appears. The terminal keeps running whether or not the phone is connected.
Why does my MT4 VPS disconnect?
Usually the broker connection, not the server: a red status icon in the terminal means the trade server is unreachable. Check the VPS is up over RDP first, then the terminal's journal and the broker's status page.
Can I run MT4 and MT5 together on one VPS?
Yes. Both terminals install side by side on Windows and can auto-start together; 8 GB is comfortable for one of each with a few charts. Register the same static IP with your broker for both.
Does WebJi charge an MT4 or MT5 licence fee?
No. The terminal is a free download from your broker, and WebJi charges only for the Windows server, static IP and support, quoted in INR with 18% GST on the invoice.
