Joomla 5 runs comfortably on shared hosting when the stack is right: PHP 8.2 or newer, MySQL 8, LiteSpeed caching and a supported release. WebJi® sells that as a normal cPanel plan from ₹300 a month before GST, with the Joomla install, staging copy and migration handled by the same support desk.
What a WebJi® Joomla hosting plan includes
A WebJi® Joomla plan is a cPanel account with Softaculous, so Joomla 5 installs in a few clicks and the database is created for you. PHP 8.1 to 8.3 can be switched per site from MultiPHP, which keeps an older Joomla build beside a new one.
- cPanel with Softaculous for one-click Joomla install and core updates.
- NVMe storage on RAID-10 in Tier-3 data centres.
- LiteSpeed with LSCache for page caching on category and article pages.
- Free SSL on every domain and subdomain you add.
- Business email and DNS managed from the same account.
- A staging subdomain for extension and template tests before they reach the live site.
Not included: template design, paid Joomla extensions, and custom component development. Those are project quotes, separate from hosting.
Joomla 5 server requirements for shared hosting
Joomla 5 needs PHP 8.1 or newer, MySQL 8.0 or MariaDB 10.4, and the usual PHP extensions. Joomla 4 reached end of life in October 2025 and Joomla 3 in August 2023, so a new site belongs on Joomla 5.
| Requirement | Minimum | Recommended on WebJi® |
|---|---|---|
| PHP | 8.1 | 8.2 or 8.3 through MultiPHP |
| Database | MySQL 8.0 or MariaDB 10.4 | MySQL 8.0 |
| PostgreSQL | 12, optional | Not needed for most Joomla sites |
| PHP extensions | mysqli, json, gd, zip, curl, mbstring | Enabled by default |
| Memory limit | 256 MB | 512 MB or more |
| HTTPS | A valid TLS certificate | Free SSL with a forced redirect |
| Cron | For scheduled tasks | cPanel cron, every five minutes |
The installer also checks write access to configuration.php and to the tmp and logs folders. If those fail, the install stops before it starts, so fix permissions in cPanel first.
Joomla hosting plans and prices in INR
Joomla uses the Linux shared ladder, and 18% GST is added to every price below. Pick by site count and traffic rather than by disk space.
| Plan | Best for | Price (INR) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| L-Basic | One Joomla site, blog or brochure build | ₹300/month | Order |
| L-Unlimited | Business site with email and several installs | ₹400/month | Order |
| L-Developer | Community site with heavy extensions and more PHP processes | ₹700/month | Order |
Per month in INR, before 18% GST. Annual terms and renewals are shown at checkout.
A Joomla site that outgrows shared hosting moves to a VPS without changing the CMS. The Linux shared hosting page lists what each tier includes.
Which Joomla site fits which plan
Match the plan to visits and extensions, not to the number of pages. A five-page brochure site and a community portal with twenty extensions behave very differently on the same CPU.
| Joomla site | Typical load | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Club or brochure site | Under 10,000 visits a month | L-Basic |
| Business site with blog and email | 10,000 to 50,000 visits | L-Unlimited |
| Community portal or directory | 50,000+ visits and many extensions | L-Developer |
| Agency account with several client sites | Several installs on one panel | L-Developer or a VPS |
The upgrade signal is simple. If saving an article in the admin takes more than a few seconds, or PHP processes queue during a traffic spike, move up a tier before the next campaign.
How to move an existing Joomla site to WebJi®
Migration is free when approved and subject to terms. We take an Akeeba backup, restore it to a staging account, test the site, and move DNS last so the live site never goes dark.
- Install Akeeba Backup on the old host and run a full site backup.
- Upload the archive and kickstart.php to the new account, then run the restore.
- Let the restore rewrite configuration.php for the new database and paths.
- Test menus, modules, extensions and forms on the staging URL.
- Lower the DNS TTL to 300 seconds, point the domain, then raise it after 48 hours.
Send the archive through a ticket and the team handles steps two and three for you. The free migration covers one site per account; a multi-site move is scoped first.

Joomla hosting FAQs
Which Joomla version should I host in 2026?
Joomla 5. Joomla 4 reached end of life in October 2025 and Joomla 3 in August 2023, so neither receives security patches. A new site should start on Joomla 5, and an older site should plan the upgrade before it is forced.
What PHP version does Joomla 5 need?
Joomla 5 requires PHP 8.1 or newer. WebJi® runs 8.2 or 8.3 by default and lets you switch versions per site in cPanel, so a legacy Joomla install can stay on its old PHP while a new build runs current.
How much does Joomla hosting cost in India?
WebJi® Linux shared plans cost ₹300, ₹400 and ₹700 a month for L-Basic, L-Unlimited and L-Developer, before 18% GST. A Joomla site that needs a dedicated server or a managed VPS is quoted per requirement instead.
Can I install Joomla with one click?
Yes. Softaculous in cPanel installs Joomla 5, creates the database and sets the admin login in one screen. It also tracks core updates, so a security release is a one-click upgrade rather than an FTP job.
Can WebJi® migrate my Joomla site?
Free migration is available when approved and subject to terms. We restore an Akeeba backup to a staging account, test the site with you, and move DNS last. Keep the old host online until the new copy has taken an order or a form submission.
Is Joomla hosting different from WordPress hosting?
The server stack is the same: cPanel, PHP 8, MySQL 8, LiteSpeed and SSL. The difference is the installer, the cache rules and the PHP extensions each CMS expects. A Joomla plan is a shared plan with Joomla installed and tuned, not a separate product.
Do I need a VPS for Joomla?
Not under about 50,000 visits a month, unless the site runs heavy extensions or a large directory. Move to a VPS when PHP workers queue at peak, when the admin slows down, or when you need root access for custom services.
