What a WebJi reseller plan costs
WebJi® reseller hosting costs ₹4,000 a year for LR-START, ₹7,000 for LR-Pro and ₹12,500 for LR-Dev, all before 18% GST. A Windows reseller line starts at ₹4,500 a year. Each plan gives WHM, an allocation of cPanel accounts and white-label nameservers.
| Plan | Price (₹/year, before 18% GST) | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| LR-START | 4,000 | A first book of roughly 10–20 clients |
| LR-Pro | 7,000 | A growing portfolio with renewals to track |
| LR-Dev | 12,500 | Agency-scale reselling |
| Windows reseller (WR) | from 4,500 | ASP.NET client sites |
The tier decides how many client accounts you can create, not just how much disk you get. Compare two plans on cost per client before you compare headline prices: a cheaper plan that caps accounts can cost more per site than LR-START.
The year-one cost stack in rupees
The plan is one line of five. Budget the rest before you quote a client.
| Line item | What it costs | How it bills |
|---|---|---|
| Reseller plan | ₹4,000–₹12,500 a year, before 18% GST | Once a year |
| Billing software | WHMCS, Clientexec or Blesta licence | Monthly, in USD |
| Payment gateway | About 2% on cards, UPI usually free | Per transaction |
| Domain for your brand | Shown at checkout | Once a year |
| SSL for client sites | Free Let's Encrypt | Included |
| Backups | Plan-dependent or a paid backup service | Monthly or yearly |
Two lines are fixed and two scale with clients. The plan and the domain arrive once a year; the gateway takes a cut of every invoice you collect, and billing software charges monthly whether you have sold anything or not.
What the cPanel licence already covers
cPanel moved to per-account licensing in 2019, so every account on the server carries a licence cost. A reseller plan bundles that cost up to its account allocation, which is why plans cap accounts instead of advertising unlimited ones.
That allocation is the real ceiling. When you reach it you upgrade a tier; you do not buy licences at retail. If a plan allows twenty accounts, ₹4,000 spread across them is ₹200 per client per year before you have sold anything.
WHMCS and the billing layer
WHMCS creates the account, sends the invoice, suspends a non-payer and reminds about renewals. At five clients you can do all four by hand in an afternoon a month. At forty, the manual version fails quietly and you learn about it when a client's site is suspended for a renewal you forgot.
Clientexec and Blesta do the same job for less, and WHMCS has the widest module support, including cPanel and most Indian gateways. Ask two questions before buying: does it connect to your gateway, and does it create cPanel accounts through WHM?
A middle path works: invoice by hand for the first quarter, then buy billing software when renewals start overlapping. Automation buys back time; it does not create demand.
Payment gateway, GST and your own invoices
You are the seller now. Open a current account in the business name, add a gateway that supports UPI and cards, and price the fee into your plans. Cards cost about 2%, UPI collections are usually free, and settlement takes about two working days.
GST applies to your hosting invoices once turnover crosses ₹20 lakh for services, or earlier if you register voluntarily to claim input credit on the plan you buy. At 18%, a ₹300 monthly plan becomes ₹354 on the invoice. That tax is collected from the client, not taken out of your margin, provided you add it to the price.
Keep the WebJi® plan invoice: it shows the GST you paid, which becomes input credit against the GST you collect.
Margin maths on LR-START
Take LR-START at ₹4,000 a year and ten clients on a ₹300 monthly plan. Revenue is ₹36,000. The plan takes ₹4,000 and card fees at 2% take ₹720, while SSL costs nothing. That leaves ₹31,280 before support, about 87% gross.
Now subtract time. Ten clients at two hours each a year, billed at ₹500 an hour, is ₹10,000. Net falls to ₹21,280, about 59%. One free migration at four hours takes the same year under 50%.
This is why the entry tier works. At ten clients you can still answer every ticket yourself; at forty, support is a part-time job and the plan tier stops being the expensive line.
What erodes the margin after year one
- Churn: losing one client in ten removes a tenth of revenue, and replacing them costs more than keeping them.
- Free migrations: a four-hour move you did not price is a ₹2,000 hole at ₹500 an hour.
- Ads: a local campaign can cost more per client than the first year of their hosting.
- Domain renewals: clients expect you to remember, and a lapsed domain is blamed on you.
- Refunds and chargebacks: the fee stays, the admin time is yours, and the account may still be suspended.
Price migrations as a paid service, put every renewal on a calendar, and review the client list each quarter. The plan price is the smallest number in the business.
Reseller hosting or a VPS for the first ten clients
A reseller plan gives you WHM, separate cPanel accounts per client and a host that owns the server. A VPS gives root access and a lower cost per gigabyte, but you buy the cPanel licence, patch the OS and answer the 2 a.m. alerts yourself.
For a first book of ten clients the reseller plan usually wins on time. The trade-off is priced in detail on the reseller hosting versus VPS page. If you already run servers, the reseller hosting plans and the full price list show what each tier includes.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does reseller hosting cost in India?
WebJi® Linux reseller plans cost ₹4,000 a year for LR-START, ₹7,000 for LR-Pro and ₹12,500 for LR-Dev, all before 18% GST, and the Windows reseller line starts at ₹4,500 a year. The plan is one line of the budget: billing software, gateway fees and support time sit on top.
What is included in a reseller hosting plan?
WHM for creating client accounts and packages, a set allocation of cPanel accounts, white-label nameservers on your own domain, and pooled disk and bandwidth you split into packages. Free Let's Encrypt SSL covers client sites, and the plan carries the cPanel licence up to its account limit.
Do I need WHMCS from day one?
No. With five clients you can raise invoices by hand and renew in a calendar reminder. Buy WHMCS, Clientexec or Blesta when renewals start overlapping, or when a suspended site would cost you a client. Check first that the billing tool has a module for your gateway and for WHM.
How many client accounts can I create?
As many as the plan allocates in WHM. Every cPanel account carries a licence cost since the 2019 per-account pricing, so a higher tier buys more accounts rather than more disk. Check the account count on the plan before comparing two prices.
Is reseller hosting profitable in India?
On LR-START with ten clients at ₹300 a month, revenue is ₹36,000 a year. The plan takes ₹4,000 and card fees about ₹720, leaving ₹31,280 before support. Subtract ten hours of support at ₹500 and the margin is nearer ₹21,000, so price migrations and renewals separately.
Do I charge GST on my own client invoices?
Once your turnover crosses ₹20 lakh for services, or when you register voluntarily, add 18% GST to your hosting invoices and file returns. The GST on the WebJi® plan you buy becomes input credit against that. Below the threshold, a proprietorship can invoice without charging GST.
