Wildcard certificates are for one domain and the host names beneath it. shop.example.com, mail.example.com and similar wildcard subdomains share that certificate. A second registered domain is outside the star. You still install the certificate on each server that answers those names. The certificate does not create the DNS.

How wildcard subdomains differ from wildcard DNS
Wildcard DNS is a DNS record whose host label is a star. It answers many names with one address. A wildcard certificate proves those names over HTTPS. Pointing the star at a server does not encrypt the names. Issuing the certificate does not create the DNS record. You need the address record and the certificate if browsers should open https on each subdomain without a name error.
