How to Install WordPress in cPanel

Quick answer: On a WebJi® Linux or WordPress plan, open cPanel, then Softaculous Apps Installer, then WordPress, and click Install. Leave Directory blank so the site uses the domain, choose https, and save the admin login. It worked when /wp-admin shows the dashboard.

Installing WordPress in cPanel on a WebJi® Linux or WordPress plan means opening Softaculous, choosing WordPress, and leaving Directory blank. The install worked when /wp-admin shows the dashboard. If Softaculous is missing, use File Manager and a MySQL database instead.

Where is WordPress inside cPanel?

On WebJi® Linux shared and WordPress plans, cPanel includes Softaculous. Open the panel first, then look under Software for Softaculous Apps Installer and the WordPress icon. Windows plans use Plesk, so this click path does not apply. An unmanaged VPS includes cPanel only when the quote said so.

The domain should already point at the account before you test the public address. The plan list is on WordPress hosting. This install does not add a separate software fee.

Set the domain to PHP 8.1 or newer under MultiPHP Manager before you click Install. Current WordPress releases expect that line. Change only this domain if an old plugin needs something earlier, then open /wp-admin again.

  • Softaculous Apps Installer, then WordPress, then Install.
  • A blank Directory field so the site uses the domain, not a subfolder.
  • An email you can open, for the admin user and for password resets.

What do you click to install WordPress with Softaculous?

This is the path WebJi® customers take. To install WordPress into cPanel, use these clicks. Softaculous creates the database and writes the configuration. You set the address and the admin login.

  1. In cPanel, under Software, open Softaculous Apps Installer. Select the WordPress icon, then Install.
  2. Set Protocol to https, select the domain, and leave Directory empty so the site uses the domain root.
  3. Enter the site name, an admin username that is not admin, a long password, and an email you can open.
  4. Click Install and wait until Softaculous shows a success message and the admin URL.

You are done when a private window on the domain shows the default theme and the admin URL accepts the login you set. Softaculous prints that URL. It is usually the domain plus /wp-admin.

If the installer shows an error, email that sentence to support@webji.services. Do not start a second copy in another folder. Two installs on one domain make the public site and the dashboard disagree.

When should you use File Manager instead?

Use File Manager only when Softaculous is not on the account. Download the current zip from WordPress.org. In cPanel, open File Manager, go to public_html for the main domain, upload the zip, and extract it.

The zip unpacks into a folder named wordpress. Move the files inside that folder into public_html. If you leave them in the folder, the site loads at /wordpress/ and the domain still shows the host placeholder.

For an addon domain, upload into that domain's document root when cPanel shows a folder other than public_html.

Before you open the domain, create the database. In cPanel, open MySQL Databases, create a database and a user, and add that user to that database with all privileges. Write down the full names. cPanel adds a prefix to both.

Which database values does the cPanel installer want?

Softaculous fills the database fields for you. The browser installer, after a manual upload, asks you to type them. On WebJi® shared and WordPress plans the database host is localhost. Use the name, user, and password from MySQL Databases, including the prefix.

Leave the table prefix as wp_ unless that prefix is already in the same database. After you submit, run the installation, then set the site title and an admin username that is not admin. The dashboard means it finished.

The installer writes wp-config.php for you. Open that file only when the four database values are wrong.

If the next screen cannot connect, the name, user, password, or host does not match. The database connection error guide walks through those four fields. Do not guess a host name.

  • Database name, user, and password, with the cPanel prefix.
  • Host: localhost, unless the welcome email names another host.
  • Table prefix wp_ when it is free.

What should you check right after the install?

Log in at the admin URL. Under Settings, then Permalinks, choose Post name and save. Delete the sample post when you are ready to publish your own. A new theme is the next job, in how to install a WordPress theme.

If the public site stays on http, open SSL/TLS Status in cPanel and run AutoSSL for that domain, then set the protocol to https. Email support@webji.services if the certificate does not issue. The mailbox is staffed 24/7 in Hindi and English, and the average first reply is under 60 minutes. The office phone is not a support line.

What if the cPanel install fails?

A directory name, or a folder that is not empty, puts WordPress in a subfolder. Remove that copy, or move the files into public_html, then run Softaculous once with Directory blank.

If the screen says WordPress is already installed, do not create a second database. Open /wp-login.php and use the lost-password link. A database connection error means the name, user, password, or host is wrong.

Email support@webji.services with the step name and the exact message on the screen. Do not repeat the install on every addon domain until one domain works.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I install WordPress in cPanel?

On a WebJi® Linux or WordPress plan, open cPanel, then Softaculous Apps Installer, then WordPress, and click Install. Leave Directory blank, choose https, and log in at /wp-admin. The dashboard means it worked.

How do I install WordPress into cPanel with Softaculous?

In cPanel open Softaculous, choose WordPress, and click Install. Set the protocol to https, pick the domain, leave Directory empty, and set an admin username that is not admin. Softaculous creates the database.

Can I install WordPress in cPanel without Softaculous?

Yes. Upload the WordPress.org files into public_html with File Manager, create a MySQL database and user, then run the browser installer. Enter the database name, user, password, and localhost.

Where is the WordPress login after a cPanel install?

Softaculous prints the admin URL when the install finishes. It is usually https://yourdomain/wp-admin. The same address works after a manual install once the browser installer has finished.

What database host do I enter on WebJi®?

Use localhost on WebJi® shared and WordPress plans, unless the welcome email names another host. The database name, user, and password are the ones from MySQL Databases, including the cPanel prefix.

What if Softaculous installs WordPress in a subfolder?

A value in Directory, or files left inside the wordpress folder, puts the site off the domain root. Remove that copy and run the install again with Directory blank so the files land in public_html.
