Google Workspace vs Microsoft 365

Quick answer: Google Workspace fits a team that works in the browser and edits files together. Microsoft 365 fits a team that needs desktop Excel, Word, and Outlook. If you only need a name on your domain, a business mailbox is enough. WebJi® Google Workspace Business Starter is ₹3,240 per user a year, before 18% GST.

Which suite fits how the team works?

Neither suite is better for every office. Pick Google Workspace when people live in a browser, share a file while they talk, and want Gmail on the company domain. Pick Microsoft 365 when the work is desktop Excel, long Word files, or an Outlook calendar the team already knows.

  • Browser files and Gmail: Google Workspace
  • Desktop Excel and Outlook: Microsoft 365
  • Mail on your domain only: a business mailbox

G Suite is the old name of Google Workspace. Office 365 is the old name of Microsoft 365. A bill that still uses the old name is the same product family, not a third suite.

The surprise is the Microsoft plan name. Some lower Microsoft business plans are web and mobile apps only. Desktop Word, Excel, and PowerPoint sit on the higher plans. Google Workspace does not include those desktop apps on any tier WebJi® sells. Confirm the quote before you compare the two brands.

Gmail or Outlook on your domain?

Both can use you@yourdomain. The address does not show which suite sits behind it. Gmail is built to find an old message from one word you half remember. Outlook is built for folders, rules, and a shared mailbox a small team watches together.

People who put several labels on one message tend to stay with Gmail. People who file each message into one folder tend to stay with Outlook. That habit decides more than a feature chart. WebJi® is not Google and not Microsoft, and we do not run either company's support desk.

Shared docs, or desktop Excel?

Docs, Sheets, and Slides are for several people in one browser file. Sheets covers lists and a simple budget the team edits together. It is a weak swap for a workbook of macros, pivot tables, and desktop Excel add-ins.

On a WebJi® Google Workspace seat, storage is pooled per user: 30 GB on Business Starter, 2 TB on Business Standard, and 5 TB on Business Plus. Microsoft lists its own OneDrive size on each plan.

Small-business Microsoft plans commonly list 1 TB of OneDrive per person. Compare that figure with the Google pool on the two quotes. The cheapest seat of one brand is not the cheapest seat of the other.

Meet opens from a browser link. Teams is the meeting, the chat, and the files in one Microsoft app. Use the one people outside the company will actually open.

When is a plain mailbox enough?

A full suite is the wrong buy when the team only sends and receives mail on its domain. No shared docs, no team drive, and no video room. That need is a mailbox, sold as business email hosting, not as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.

The smallest WebJi® mailbox plan is ₹2,520 a year for five 5 GB mailboxes, which is ₹504 a mailbox, before 18% GST. You get the company address and the inbox. You do not get Docs, Sheets, Meet, desktop Excel, or Teams.

Add a suite seat later for the person who needs the apps. Do not buy a suite for every mailbox on day one.

What does WebJi charge for Google Workspace?

These prices are per user, per year, before 18% GST. The invoice adds 18%. They are the live Google Workspace list WebJi® sells. They are not a Microsoft price.

Google Workspace tierStorage per userPrice (₹/user/year)
Business Starter30 GB pooled3,240
Business Standard2 TB pooled12,960
Business Plus5 TB pooled24,000

Business Starter at ₹3,240 suits a browser-first team that will not store large video. Business Standard at ₹12,960 is the step up when 30 GB is too small. Business Plus at ₹24,000 is the large pool.

The order page is Google Workspace. WebJi® does not publish a Microsoft 365 rupee list, so this table is not a claim that one brand costs less.

What do you check before a switch?

Switch when a named limit is in the way, such as desktop Excel that Sheets cannot run, or a browser habit the desktop apps keep breaking. Do not switch because another brand looks more popular. Keep the old suite until the new mail works.

  1. Create every new mailbox before you change where mail is delivered.
  2. Send a test from an outside address and reply from the new mailbox. This step is done when that reply arrives.
  3. Change the MX records only after the test works. Leave the old suite running until a second test arrives the next day.
  4. Email support@webji.services if you want WebJi® to move Google Workspace mail. That help is free only after terms and approval, and it is not instant.

Moving mail between hosts is covered in moving email accounts. For a Google Workspace move that WebJi® would handle, email support@webji.services with the mailbox count and the suite you are leaving.

Free migration is subject to terms and approval. It is not instant, and it is not a promise on every Microsoft tenant.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which one is better, Google Workspace or Microsoft 365?

Google Workspace is the better fit when the team works in the browser and shares files all day. Microsoft 365 is the better fit when desktop Excel, Word, or Outlook is the daily tool. If you only need mail on your domain, a mailbox beats both.

What are the disadvantages of Google Workspace?

There is no installed Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. Complex spreadsheets and long formatted documents are the weak spot. Business Starter is only 30 GB pooled per user. Gmail uses labels rather than folders. Deeper admin controls sit on the higher tiers, not on the cheapest seat.

Is Google Workspace cheaper than Microsoft 365?

Not as a blanket rule. WebJi® lists Google Workspace at ₹3,240, ₹12,960, or ₹24,000 per user a year, before 18% GST. Microsoft prices its own plans, and we do not print a matching rupee rate. Compare quotes for the same term after tax.

When is plain email hosting enough?

When the company needs name@yourdomain and does not need shared docs, a team drive, or video meetings. The smallest WebJi® mailbox plan is ₹2,520 a year for five 5 GB mailboxes, before 18% GST. That plan is mail only.

Can I use my own domain with both?

Yes. Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 can both put your domain on the mailbox. The DNS records differ, so set them for the suite you bought. A test message from an outside address is how you know mail arrived.

Can I switch from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 later?

Yes, but plan the cut. Create the new mailboxes, prove a test message arrives, then change the MX records, and keep the old suite until that test is solid. A WebJi® move of Google Workspace mail is subject to terms and approval. It is not instant.

What is better than Google Workspace?

Microsoft 365, when the missing piece is desktop Excel or Outlook. A business mailbox, when the missing piece is only the company address. Google Workspace remains the better tool when the team already lives in Gmail and shared browser files.
