The verdict before the tables

Choose DreamHost for the lowest first-year bill, 25 sites and NVMe storage. Choose HostGator if you will stay three years: $3.75 a month for 36 months is about $135, against roughly $298 on DreamHost's renewals. WebJi is a separate Jaipur host, not either brand.

Both vendors' own pages were read on 30 October 2026. Every figure below carries the term it needs and the renewal that follows, because an introductory rate without a renewal is not a price.

  • DreamHost was cheaper in year one and gives the larger plan for the money.
  • HostGator was cheaper across three years because its promotional rate runs for the whole term.
  • Only HostGator offers cPanel, which is the one reason to pay more in year one.

DreamHost shared plans, read 30 October 2026

DreamHost sells one shared plan, Web Hosting Launch, at $2.89 a month on a yearly term. The same plan card states an automatic renewal at $10.99 a month after one year. The page is priced in US dollars.

The plan lists 25 websites, 25 GB NVMe storage, unmetered bandwidth, 25 MySQL databases, 40,000 monthly visits, daily backups, a free domain for one year and 20 mailboxes free for three months. The control panel is DreamHost's own, not cPanel.

HostGator shared plans, read 30 October 2026

HostGator lists Hatchling at $3.75 a month, Baby at $4.50 and Business at $6.25, on a three-year checkout term. The renewals printed beside them are $10.99, $16.49 and $21.99 a month. Storage runs 10 GB, 20 GB and 50 GB SSD.

All three include cPanel, a free SSL certificate and a free domain for the first year. Before you compare the rupee cost, note that hostgator.in redirected to BigRock on 30 October 2026, with a notice that the two companies have joined forces. The table below therefore comes from hostgator.com, in dollars.

Entry plans side by side

These prices were read from dreamhost.com/hosting/shared/ and hostgator.com/web-hosting on 30 October 2026. They are first-term prices in US dollars, before any Indian card fee or tax, and each row shows the renewal that follows.

PlanFirst termTermRenewalStorageVisits/mo
DreamHost Web Hosting Launch$2.89/moYearly$10.99/mo25 GB NVMe40,000
HostGator Hatchling$3.75/mo3 years$10.99/mo10 GB SSD40,000
HostGator Baby$4.50/mo3 years$16.49/mo20 GB SSD50,000
HostGator Business$6.25/mo3 years$21.99/mo50 GB SSD200,000

On the entry row, DreamHost is lower in year one, gives 15 GB more storage and allows 25 websites against 10. HostGator's advantage is cPanel, plus larger plans if you need 50 GB or 200,000 visits.

What year two costs on each

Both entry plans renew at $10.99 a month, so the discount disappears at the same rate. The difference is how long the discount was locked for.

  • DreamHost: $2.89 for 12 months, then $10.99. Three years comes to about $298.
  • HostGator Hatchling: $3.75 for 36 months. Three years comes to about $135.
  • Both totals are in dollars before tax and before any card fee.

That is why the year-one answer and the three-year answer point in opposite directions. If you will move in a year, take the cheaper first term. If you will stay, the longer lock is the lower total.

Panel, storage and migration differences

DreamHost uses a custom control panel; HostGator uses cPanel. The daily difference is where the tools sit: cPanel puts File Manager, phpMyAdmin and email accounts in familiar menus, while DreamHost's panel arranges the same jobs its own way.

Both stores are flash, NVMe on DreamHost and SSD on HostGator, so plan size matters more than the label. Files and databases export from either panel, which means neither host traps your site.

Why WebJi is not either brand

WebJi is an Indian host in Jaipur, in business since 2005 and formerly B4UIndia. We do not own, operate or resell DreamHost or HostGator, we cannot answer for their billing, and this page does not publish their contact lines.

WebJi's own shared plans are shared hosting in India at ₹300 a month for L-Basic, ₹400 for L-Unlimited and ₹700 for L-Developer, before 18% GST, with one-year totals of ₹3,000, ₹4,000 and ₹7,000. They are printed in rupees on the pricing page, so no dollar conversion is invented here.

Moving a site to an Indian host

Take a full backup from the current panel, upload it to the new account, and test on a temporary address before you change DNS. Keep the old account until mail works, because email is the part that breaks quietly.

WebJi migration is free subject to terms and approval. For cPanel-to-cPanel moves the Linux hosting account is the usual destination; email the team with the domain and the panel you are leaving.

Support is by email at support@webji.services, 24/7 in Hindi and English, with an average first reply under 60 minutes. The office phone is not a support line.
