Choosing by Audience: India, US or Global
Host in the country where most visitors, or most buyers, are. India for an Indian audience, the United States for a US audience, Singapore for Southeast Asia, and Germany or the UK for Europe. If the audience is split, put the origin with the people who log in or pay.
A server location is the country of the machine that answers requests. It is not the city printed on the invoice, and it is not the country a VPN app displays.
The decision, in order:
- In analytics, name the country of most sessions, and the country of most orders if you sell.
- If that country is India, keep the origin in India. Shared, WordPress and cloud plans already default there.
- If it is the United States, choose US East or US West. If it is Southeast Asia, choose Singapore. If it is Europe, choose Germany or the UK.
- If two countries are close, put the origin with the people who log in or pay, and serve images from a CDN.
- After the site is live, ping and read TTFB from a network in that country. Stop when the round trip sits in the band for that path.
Shared, WordPress and cloud plans on cloud hosting already default to India. The checkout list, and the note that a city page is not a data center in that city, is on the server locations page.
How Server Location Impacts Speed (Latency 101)
Each request waits out the round trip before the page starts. A page that fetches HTML, then CSS, images and a database call pays that wait more than once. Closer means less waiting. It does not make a heavy file small.
For a visitor in India, the bands on the server locations page are about 10–50 ms from an India origin, about 150–250 ms from the US, and about 120–200 ms from Europe. Those figures are distance guidance, not a ticket SLA.
The gap is easier to feel on a mobile network, which already adds its own delay. An uncompressed 5 MB banner is still slow on a nearby server. Fix the file, then judge the location.

India vs Singapore vs US Latency Compared
Use the places WebJi® actually offers. Read the milliseconds as the same distance guidance, for a visitor in India, not as a promise on one traceroute.
| Origin | Choose it when | Round trip, visitor in India |
|---|---|---|
| India | Most visitors are in India | About 10–50 ms |
| Singapore | Most visitors are in Southeast Asia | No millisecond band is printed. Not the India default. |
| US East or US West | Most visitors are in the United States | About 150–250 ms |
| Germany or the UK | Most visitors are in Europe | About 120–200 ms |
Singapore has no millisecond band printed on that page. Pick it for a Southeast Asian audience, not as a stand-in for visitors in India. The India versus US server hosting note covers that pair on its own.
Does Server Location Affect Google Rankings?
Server location does not, by itself, set a ranking in a country. It changes how long the server takes to answer the people you named. A long round trip raises Time to First Byte, and that can worsen Largest Contentful Paint for that audience.
Write the page for the country you serve, and set that country in Search Console. An India origin does not rescue a thin page. A US origin does not block an Indian query on its own.
How a CDN Complements Server Location
A CDN keeps copies of static files nearer the visitor. Images, CSS and JavaScript can then skip the trip back to the origin.
HTML, the cart and the login are still built on the origin. If that machine is far away, those requests still wait. Put the origin in the audience's region, then add a CDN. See what a CDN adds for the static layer.
Testing Your Latency: ping and TTFB Tools
Test from a network your visitors use. A ping fired on the server, or a laptop on a VPN in another country, measures a different path.
Ping the hostname and read the time in milliseconds. That is one round trip. In the browser network panel, reload and read TTFB on the document. That is the wait before the first byte of HTML.
Repeat the check two or three times. One spike is a busy path, not a verdict. You are done when the figure sits in the band for that audience and the page still opens over HTTPS.
Changing Server Location With WebJi®
Shared, WordPress and cloud plans default to India. A server plan can be placed, at checkout, in India, Singapore, the US East or West coast, Germany or the UK. No separate location fee is printed for that choice. A custom move is quoted by email before you pay, in INR, with 18% GST on the invoice.
The registered office is Shop #27, Ajmer Road, Tagore Nagar, Jaipur 302021. That address is not a data center, and there is no walk-in branch in any other city. Email support@webji.services in Hindi or English. The average first reply is under 60 minutes. Do not use the office phone as a support line.
Moving the site is a migration. Free migration is subject to terms and approval. It is not instant. After the copy, measure TTFB from the audience country before you close the old location. The uptime target on the account remains 99.9%.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does server location affect website speed?
Yes. Each request waits on the round trip. For a visitor in India, an India origin is about 10–50 ms, a US origin is about 150–250 ms, and Europe is about 120–200 ms. Those bands are guidance, not a ticket SLA. A large image is still slow on a nearby server.
How do I choose the right server location?
Name the country of most visitors, or of the people who pay. If WebJi® offers that place, use it: India, Singapore, the US East or West coast, Germany, or the UK. If the audience is split, place the origin with checkout or login traffic and use a CDN for images and CSS.
Should my server be in India or the US?
Choose India when most visitors are in India, and the US when most visitors are in the United States. Do not leave an Indian shop on a US default. Singapore is for Southeast Asia, and Germany or the UK is for Europe.
Does server location affect SEO rankings?
It changes how fast the page reaches the audience you named, which can change Time to First Byte and Largest Contentful Paint. It does not set a country ranking by itself. Write for that country, and set the same country in Search Console.
What is latency and how do I measure it?
Latency is the round trip between the visitor and the server, in milliseconds. From a computer on that visitor's network, ping the hostname and read the time. In the browser network panel, TTFB is the wait before the first byte of HTML. A ping on the server, or through a VPN in another country, measures the wrong path.
Can a CDN make up for a distant server?
Only for files the CDN has cached, such as images, CSS and JavaScript. The HTML, the cart and the login still come from the origin, so a distant origin still adds a round trip there. Put the origin near the audience, then add a CDN for the static files.
How do I change my server location?
Email support@webji.services with the domain and the location you want. Shared, WordPress and cloud plans default to India. A server plan can sit in India, Singapore, the US East or West coast, Germany or the UK. A move is a migration, subject to terms and approval, not an instant switch.
How do I find my server location?
Open the service in the client area and read the location on the order. The Jaipur address on the invoice is the registered office at Shop #27, Ajmer Road, Tagore Nagar, Jaipur 302021, not the rack. A short ping from India, tens of milliseconds rather than 150 ms or more, fits an India origin.
