MX Record Lookup Tool

Quick answer: An MX record lookup lists the mail servers a domain publishes. Each row is a hostname plus a priority, and a lower number is tried first. The hostname is not an IP address. An empty list means senders have no mail server. Compare the rows with the MX hostnames in the WebJi® welcome mail.

What an MX record lookup returns

The lookup takes the bare domain: gmail.com or yourcompany.in, with no www and no https. The same query on a computer is dig MX yourdomain.in or nslookup -type=mx yourdomain.in, and the wider record set is the DNS lookup.

Read each hostname against the mail host you expect. A hostname is a name senders resolve, never a bare IP; and if the list is empty, the domain has not published a mail server at all.

How to read MX priority when mail fails

A lower priority number is tried first. A higher number is the backup. If the first hostname does not resolve, or still names the old host after a move, mail stops even though a second row is present.

Read the hostname against the provider you expect. A registration question is a separate WHOIS lookup. Changing the MX to a guessed hostname will point mail at the wrong server.

How WebJi® email hosting uses MX records

If WebJi® hosts the mailbox, the welcome mail lists the MX hostnames that should appear. Match the lookup to that list before you edit DNS. Mailboxes on the platform are business email hosting.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check my MX records?

Look up the bare domain, with no www and no https. The result is one row per mail server: a hostname and a priority. On a computer the same query is dig MX yourdomain.in or nslookup -type=mx yourdomain.in.

What do MX record priorities mean?

The lowest number is tried first. A higher number is a backup, used when the lower one does not accept mail. Two rows with the same number can share the load.

Which MX records does Google Workspace use?

Google Workspace domains commonly carry a single smtp.google.com host, while older setups still show five aspmx.l.google.com records with priorities 1 to 10. Treat both as Google signatures and confirm the exact list in the Workspace admin setup wizard, because Google changes it over time.

How do I find who hosts my email?

The hostname in the MX row is the mail host. If it matches the hostname in the WebJi® welcome mail, the mailbox is on WebJi®. If it names another provider, that provider holds the mail.

Why is my email not receiving mail?

An empty MX list means senders have nowhere to deliver. A priority that points at a hostname which does not resolve, or at an old host after a move, has the same effect. Compare the lookup with the welcome mail before you change DNS.

What happens if there is no MX record?

Senders have no published mail server for that domain, so new mail is not delivered. Some senders then try the domain’s A record, which is not a reliable mailbox. Publish the hostname from your welcome mail.

Is WebJi® an Indian company?

Yes. WebJi® is Webji Hosting Pvt. Ltd., formerly B4UIndia, hosting since 2005, with the brand WebJi® since 2018. The office is Shop #27, Ajmer Road, Tagore Nagar, Jaipur 302021.

Yes. Invoices are in INR and show 18% GST. Email support@webji.services is 24/7 in Hindi and English. Phone +91 141 4941811 is the Jaipur office line during business hours.
