Kubernetes hosting runs containerised applications across a cluster of nodes, with scheduling, restarts and scaling handled by the control plane. WebJi® provides the Linux VPS nodes for a self-managed cluster; a managed control plane is a cloud platform purchase. Below is how to choose between the two, and when one VPS is the cheaper answer.
Node counts and sizing are quoted in INR by email before payment, with 18% GST on the invoice. Email support@webji.services is staffed 24/7 in Hindi and English, with an average first reply under 60 minutes.
Kubernetes Hosting India — What You Get
You get Linux VPS nodes with root SSH, a public IPv4 address and a service you can restart, which is the raw material of a self-managed cluster. You install the container runtime, initialise the control plane with kubeadm (or k3s for a lighter single-binary setup), then add a CNI plugin, an ingress controller and a storage class.
- One node per VPS, each with root access and its own public address.
- kubeadm or k3s, with Flannel, Calico or Cilium as the CNI.
- Ingress-Nginx or Traefik plus cert-manager for TLS.
- A storage class over the node's NVMe, or a CSI driver for shared volumes.
- INR billing with 18% GST on the invoice.
We do not run the control plane for you, and this page will not pretend otherwise. If you want somebody else to patch the API server and snapshot etcd, that is a managed service on another provider; the VPS range is what we sell.
Managed or Self-Managed Kubernetes
Managed means a cloud provider runs the API server, scheduler and etcd while you run workloads. Self-managed means you run all three on your own nodes. The table is the decision, not the marketing.
| Job | Managed Kubernetes | Self-managed on WebJi® VPS |
|---|---|---|
| Control plane | Provider runs it | You run it on your nodes |
| Upgrades | Provider patches | You upgrade version by version |
| etcd backup | Provider | Your cron and snapshot storage |
| Adding capacity | Node pools | Buy a VPS and join it |
| Cost shape | Per cluster plus nodes | Flat per VPS |
| Best for | A small team without a platform engineer | A team that already runs Kubernetes |
No managed control plane is included in a WebJi® VPS; that column describes the alternative sold elsewhere.
When a Single VPS Beats a Kubernetes Cluster
Run one VPS with Docker Compose or systemd when you have one application, one database and predictable traffic. It deploys in minutes, costs one instance, and leaves nothing to patch except the OS.
Move to a cluster when three things are true: you need more than one replica of a service, you want a deploy that never drops requests, and a node failure should not take the site down. If only the first is true, a second VPS behind a load balancer is cheaper than a control plane.
Sizing Control-Plane and Worker Nodes
Give each control-plane node 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM with fast disk, because etcd writes cluster state to disk on every change. Size workers from the sum of pod requests plus 30 to 40% headroom; a node allocated past 90% schedules the next pod badly or not at all.
A learning cluster fits on one k3s node. A production control plane that survives a machine loss needs three nodes for etcd quorum, which is a three-VPS bill before the first worker. Cloud VPS nodes join the same way when you want to add capacity quickly.
Who Kubernetes Hosting Suits in India
It suits teams running several containerised services that scale independently, with someone who reads kubectl output and owns the cluster on call. It also suits platform teams that want ingress, CNI and storage under version control instead of a hosting panel.
It does not suit a brochure site, a single WordPress install, a small Laravel app or a team with nobody to patch a control plane at night. Those belong on a VPS, and a large single workload is better on a dedicated server before it is better on a cluster.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Kubernetes hosting?
Kubernetes hosting runs containerised applications on a cluster of nodes, with a control plane that schedules pods, restarts failed containers and scales replicas. The host supplies the nodes; you or your provider run the control plane.
Can I run Kubernetes on a VPS in India?
Yes, as a self-managed cluster: install kubeadm or k3s on Linux VPS nodes with root SSH, then add a CNI and an ingress controller. A single k3s node is fine for learning; production needs more than one machine.
Managed vs self-managed Kubernetes — which should I choose?
Choose managed when nobody on the team wants to patch the API server, upgrade versions and back up etcd. Choose self-managed on VPS nodes when you already run clusters and want version control with a flat bill.
How much does Kubernetes hosting cost in India?
Node count drives the bill: a learning cluster is one VPS, a resilient control plane is three, and workers follow your pod requests. We quote the fleet in INR by email before payment, with 18% GST on the invoice; list prices are on the pricing page.
What should I know before adopting Kubernetes?
You need container images, manifests or Helm charts, an ingress and TLS plan, a storage plan and someone on call. Certificate rotation, etcd backups and control-plane upgrades become your responsibility on a self-managed cluster.
Is Kubernetes overkill for a small app?
Usually yes. One app, one database and steady traffic run cheaper on a single VPS with Docker Compose. A cluster earns its cost when you need several replicas, zero-downtime deploys and rescheduling after a node failure.
Does WebJi® provide a managed Kubernetes control plane?
No. We provide Linux VPS nodes with root access, and you run the control plane. For a managed control plane, use a cloud provider's Kubernetes service and point it at nodes you control.
How many nodes does a cluster need?
One node is enough to learn, but not to survive a failure. A highly available control plane needs three nodes for etcd quorum, and workers are added to fit your pod requests plus headroom.
