Which attacks should the service stop?

- L7 HTTP floods hit search, login, or checkout. Each request does PHP and database work, so a smaller botnet can exhaust the site.
- SYN floods leave half-open TCP connections until new visitors cannot connect.
On shared hosting, one attacked account can slow the whole node. A site that is hit again and again usually needs a dedicated server, where that pipe is not shared with strangers.
A web application firewall inspects odd requests. It is not a substitute for flood filtering.
