How to Create a Landing Page

Quick answer: A landing page is one web page built for one action, such as a form submit, a booking, or a purchase. Write one offer, one headline, and one button, then publish that page with the site menu hidden. On WordPress, the block editor does this on a page you already host.

What a landing page is

A landing page is the page a campaign sends someone to. The homepage introduces the business and offers a menu. A landing page asks for one action, such as a form submit, a booking, or a purchase, and it leaves every other job to the rest of the site.

You can publish that single page before a full website exists. A hosted builder can serve it on the builder's subdomain. On your own domain, the page still needs the domain and a host. Remove the menu, the sidebar, and any second offer so the visitor has one decision.

  • One offer, stated as the outcome the visitor gets.
  • One headline that names that outcome.
  • One button or one short form.
  • Proof beside the button: a named result, a logo you may show, or a one-line quote.
  • No site menu and no second button.

Plan one goal for the landing page

Write the finished action before you open the editor. A usable goal sounds like book a 20-minute call, send the price list, or buy this one product. If you cannot finish the sentence "done means the visitor did this", the draft is two pages.

Name one reader. A headline for a shop owner who needs a same-day quote is a different page from a headline for a student who needs a portfolio. Use that reader's words, not an internal product name.

A short clip can sit under the headline when it shows the offer. Turning the landing page into a video file is a different job, and you do not need that file before you publish.

What makes a landing page convert

A landing page converts when the first screen matches the ad, email, or post that sent the visitor, and the button repeats that promise. If the ad offered a same-day quote, the button should not say Explore services.

Hide the header links on this campaign page only. In WordPress, use a full-width template with no sidebar. Leave the menu on the rest of the site as it is.

A second button next to the main one splits the click. Keep one. Put proof beside it: a named result, a logo you have rights to show, or a one-line quote.

How to create a landing page in WordPress

The block editor ships with WordPress, so this method has no builder fee. You still pay for a domain and for hosting.

On WebJi®, WordPress Unlimited is ₹400 a month, ₹3,000 for one year, or ₹8,100 for three years, before 18% GST. Those figures were read on 30 October 2026.

WordPress Unlimited+ on the same price list is ₹500 a month, ₹4,200 for one year, and ₹11,340 for three years, also before 18% GST.

To show the page at the domain root, open Settings, then Reading, choose a static homepage, and select it. To change the landing page later, pick a different page on that screen, or change the URL the ad uses. You do not rebuild the site.

  1. Pages, then Add New. Title the page. The title can stay off the design. It still sets the slug.
  2. Add a Cover block. One background, one headline that states the outcome, and one button.
  3. Add a Columns block with three benefits. Each column is the benefit and one line that proves it.
  4. Add one proof block. A quote with a real name, or logos you have permission to show.
  5. Add the form with a contact-form block, or a button to the booking page. Keep the fields short.
  6. Choose the full-width template with no sidebar. Publish, then shorten the slug to the offer, not a default such as new-page.

Submit the form once yourself. It works when the message arrives in the inbox you named. Field-by-field setup is in add a contact form in WordPress.

If you want the copy and the layout built for you, the project is quoted by email before you pay. Start from website design services. A full WordPress site, rather than one campaign page, is WordPress web design.

Elementor, CartFlows, or a hosted landing page builder

Elementor is a layout plugin on your own WordPress site. Use it when the block editor cannot make the layout. Start from a landing template, hide the theme header and footer on that page, and keep one form.

CartFlows chains an opt-in page to a thank-you page. Use it when the campaign is a sequence. For a single offer, the extra step is clutter.

A hosted landing page builder publishes on that company's platform. WebJi® is not Canva, Wix, or Salesforce. Those products can go live on the builder's subdomain before you own a website. A page on your domain still needs the domain pointed at a host you control.

Write the landing page headline and button

Write the headline as the result plus the reader. "Get a written hosting quote the same day" is a headline. "Welcome to our website" is not. The line under the headline states one limit: what is included, how long it takes, or what you will not do.

Label the button with a verb and the thing the visitor receives, such as Send the quote, Book the call, or Download the checklist. Do not label it Submit.

Three lines under the headline are enough: the problem, the offer, and what happens after the click. Move a long explanation to a normal page. Do not put that link in a menu on the landing page.

Check landing page speed and conversions

Open the landing page on a phone before you send traffic. The headline and the button should both be visible without a hunt. Submit the form and confirm the email arrives. That is how you know it works.

Mark one conversion on the thank-you URL or on the form submit. For the same dates, divide submits by visits. When you test, change the headline or the button text, not both.

Send ad clicks to the landing page, not to the homepage. The homepage offers a menu and a second choice. An Instagram story can carry the same URL. The story is the traffic, not the page.

A large background video or several builder scripts makes the first tap wait. Use one image, and do not place a popup over the button.

What it costs to host a landing page in India

Building in the block editor has no separate builder fee. The figure you can check today is hosting. 18% GST is added on the invoice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create a landing page for free in WordPress?

The block editor is included with WordPress, so there is no builder fee. Add a page, put the headline and button in a Cover block, add the form, choose a full-width template, and publish. You still pay for the domain and for hosting.

Can I have a landing page without a full website?

Yes. One published page is enough for a campaign. A hosted builder can serve it on the builder's subdomain. On your own domain, point the domain at a host and publish that page with the menu removed.

What should a landing page include to convert?

Use one headline that states the outcome, one button or a short form, and a few lines of proof. The headline and the button should both be visible on a phone without scrolling past a menu.

How do I change the landing page in WordPress?

Open Settings, then Reading, choose a static homepage, and select the page. To change it later, select a different page there, or change the URL the ad uses. You do not need a new site.

How much does a landing page cost to host in India?

WebJi® WordPress Unlimited is ₹400 a month, ₹3,000 for one year, and ₹8,100 for three years, before 18% GST, read on 30 October 2026. Unlimited+ is ₹500 a month, ₹4,200 a year, and ₹11,340 for three years. A done-for-you design is quoted by email before you pay.

How do I know the landing page is working?

Submit the form yourself and confirm the email arrives. Then divide form submits by visits for the same dates. Send ads to this page rather than the homepage, and change only one element when you test.
