How to Clear WordPress Cache

Quick answer: Clear the WordPress cache with the plugin Purge or Delete Cache button. If that menu is missing, flush LiteSpeed Web Cache Manager in cPanel. Then open the page in a private window. Posts and media stay. Only stored copies are removed, and a hard refresh covers the browser CSS and JavaScript.

To clear the WordPress cache, press the plugin Purge or Delete Cache button. If that menu is missing, flush LiteSpeed Web Cache Manager in cPanel. Then open the edited URL in a private window. The purge removes stored copies of the page, CSS, and JavaScript. It does not remove posts or media. A hard refresh clears the copy the browser kept.

Which cache is showing the old WordPress page?

The old page is one of three copies. The page cache is HTML saved by the plugin or the server. The browser cache is CSS, JavaScript, and images kept on the computer you are using. The server cache is the host copy. On WebJi® that copy is LiteSpeed. Logged-in editors often skip the page cache, so wp-admin can look new while visitors still see the old page.

CopyWhere it sitsWhat a purge removes
Page cachePlugin or serverSaved HTML of the URL
Browser cacheChrome, Safari, or another browserCSS, JavaScript, and images for that site
Server cacheLiteSpeed on the accountThe host copy, including when the plugin button is missing

Clearing the Instagram app cache, including on an iPhone, does not change this WordPress site. A Windows, Android, Linux, or Ubuntu clear, a Flash cache, a Laravel cache, and a DNS flush on Windows 7 are different jobs too.

Clear the WordPress cache from the plugin

Use the caching plugin that is already active. Adding a second one to find a delete button usually conflicts with the first. WordPress delete cache and a purge are the same action: stored copies go, the post stays.

  • LiteSpeed Cache for WordPress. In the admin bar, open the LiteSpeed icon and choose Purge All. After a stylesheet or script change, choose Purge All - CSS/JS so the minified JavaScript cache is rebuilt.
  • WP Super Cache. Click Delete Cache in the admin bar, then Delete Cache again on the settings screen. The second click empties the files.
  • W3 Total Cache. Open Performance, then Purge All Caches. Empty All Caches on the General Settings screen does the same job.
  • WP Rocket and WP Fastest Cache. WP Rocket is in the admin bar under Clear and preload. WP Fastest Cache uses its Delete Cache tab.

It worked when a logged-out private window shows the edit. The admin view is not the test, because many plugins skip the cache for logged-in users.

Clear the server cache in cPanel

If the plugin menu is missing, or the private window is still old, clear the server cache. On WebJi® WordPress hosting that control is LiteSpeed Web Cache Manager. Open cPanel for the domain. The billing login is a different screen and has no flush button.

  1. In cPanel, search for LiteSpeed Web Cache Manager and open it.
  2. Use Flush All, or the flush control named for this domain. Wait until the screen says the flush finished.
  3. If that screen is not on the account, open File Manager, go to the WordPress directory, and empty the files inside wp-content/cache. Leave wp-content/uploads, plugins, and themes where they are.
  4. Load the edited URL in a private window while logged out. It worked when the new text, image, or color is visible there.

Do not delete the whole wp-content folder. That removes plugins and uploads. Empty only the cache directory.

Clear the browser copy of CSS and JavaScript

The browser can still paint old CSS and JavaScript after the server purge. In Chrome, open the three-dot menu, then Settings, Privacy and security, and Delete browsing data. Tick Cached images and files. Do not include saved passwords. Choose the time range and click Clear data.

  • A hard refresh reloads this URL without wiping the whole browser. Use Ctrl+Shift+R, or Cmd+Shift+R on a Mac.
  • In Safari, Develop then Empty Caches clears the cache only. History then Clear History also deletes cookies and signs you out. Clearing cookies in Safari is a separate job from this purge.
  • A clear-cache extension only deletes that browser copy. It does not flush the plugin or LiteSpeed.

What to leave on in WordPress cache settings

Leave the page cache on. Switching it off for the whole site makes every visit rebuild the page. To check one edit, purge, then use a private window. Disable cache only for a URL that must stay dynamic, such as a cart or an account page, using the plugin exclude list.

Keep a lifespan so old files expire. Most plugins already purge when you update a post. After a theme or script change, purge CSS and JavaScript as well as the HTML page. The JavaScript cache is why a new style can still look like the old one.

When a purge does not change what you see

If the private window is still old, the flush did not reach the copy the visitor gets. Confirm the change is published on the live site, not a draft and not staging. If Cloudflare or QUIC.cloud sits in front of the site, purge that edge copy too, or the visitor keeps the old file.

When the private window is already new and something else is broken, read the WordPress error log. Email the time and the URL to support@webji.services. Do not call the office number for a purge. That line is not the support queue.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I lose anything if I clear the WordPress cache?

No. A purge deletes temporary copies of pages, CSS, JavaScript, and images. Posts, pages, media uploads, orders, and comments stay in the database and in wp-content/uploads.

How do I clear the WordPress cache without a plugin?

Log in to cPanel, open LiteSpeed Web Cache Manager, and flush the cache. If that screen is missing, empty the files inside wp-content/cache in File Manager. Do not delete uploads or plugins. Confirm the page in a private window.

How do I clear LiteSpeed Cache for WordPress?

In wp-admin, open the LiteSpeed icon in the admin bar and choose Purge All. After a style or script edit, choose Purge All - CSS/JS. If the icon is missing, flush LiteSpeed Web Cache Manager in cPanel.

Is it safe to purge the cache?

Yes. The site may load a little slower for the next few visits while new copies are written. That is expected. Content stays. Purge when visitors cannot see an update, not on a timer for its own sake.

How do I clear the browser cache for a WordPress page?

In Chrome, open Settings, then Privacy and security, then Delete browsing data, and clear Cached images and files. Leave passwords unticked. A hard refresh reloads one URL. Safari Empty Caches clears the cache and leaves cookies in place.

Why is the site still old after I purge?

The admin view often skips the page cache. Open a private window while logged out. Also confirm the edit is published on the live site, and purge Cloudflare or QUIC.cloud if one of those sits in front. If the private window is already new, the remaining fault is not the cache.
